Bio:
NCWC member Susan Blacklin is a passionate advocate for water justice. After a distinguished career, Susan turned to writing and published her first memoir, Water Confidential: Witnessing Justice Denied, now featured in Indigenous Studies programs and high school curricula across Canada. Drawing on fifteen years of volunteer work with the Safe Drinking Water Foundation—an organization she co‑founded with her late husband, Dr. Hans Peterson—Susan continues to amplify pressing water safety concerns through her latest book, Water Justice: What You Don’t Know Could Kill You.
Raised in London, England, Susan fulfilled her dream of emigrating to Canada at eighteen. She has since lived in Winnipeg, Saskatoon, and now enjoys life in Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island. When not writing, she spends time gardening, tutoring, painting, and walking by the sea. Please note that Susan was instrumental in preparing the NCWC’s Open Letter: Protect Canada’s Water – Protect Our Health, which reaffirms the Council’s commitment to responsible water stewardship and stronger environmental protections for women, families, and communities nationwide.
