World Peace Keeping Operations

68.5 World Peace Keeping Operations

Whereas:

  1. The United Nations has recognized the need for a permanent Peace Keeping Force.
  2. Establishing one permanent Peace Keeping Force would:
    • Prevent the overlapping of forces and weapons.
    • Greatly reduce costs and the fear between nations.
    • Allow for quick response to troubled zones.
  3. The existing special Committee of the United Nations for Peace Keeping has terms of reference that fall short of the broader goal suggested by the Secretary General.

Resolved: The National Council of Women of Canada commends the Government of Canada for supporting the United Nations Peace Keeping Forces and urges the Government to continue advocating for a comprehensive program of Peace Keeping Operations in the United Nations.
