Being aware of the increasing Human Rights' violations in the world
Considering the importance attached by the United Nations to the reaffirmation of the Universality of Human Rights for all during the sixty years Celebration (September 2008)
Being delighted at the recognition paid to NGOs for their role in education and training on Human Rights
The International Council of Women
Calls on its affiliated National Councils to press their respective governments
1. to ensure that an education and training programme for Human Rights is included in teaching from the youngest age and for all levels including tertiary level
2. to ensure that these programmes include formal education as well as informal in order to reach younger generations outside the school system
3. to ensure the training of all concerned actors particularly teachers, magistrates, doctors and medical-social workers and persons in charge of the media as well as NGOs.
