79.8 Alcohol Use Education
Whereas, The Health and Welfare Department of the Government of Canada, in co-operation with provincial governments, is engaged in a campaign highlighting the concern caused by the excessive use of alcoholic beverages;
Whereas, Reports show that the consumption of alcoholic beverages is increasing in Canada, particularly among young people; and,
Whereas, 1979 is being recognized as the International Year of the Child; therefore be it,
RESOLVED, That the National Council of Women of Canada request the Provincial Councils to urge the Provincial Governments across Canada to introduce into their educational systems the use of health educators, where such practices do not exist, to inform school children, at an early age, of the dangerous effects of alcoholic beverages on the mind and body.
