Stephanie Maghnam
Stephanie was recently appointed Vice President of Administration of the National Council of Women of Canada and serves as the 1st Vice President of the Ottawa Council of Women. Prior to joining the NCWC Board, Stephanie Maghnam ran as a Candidate in the 2018 provincial election representing Kanata-Carleton and later as a Candidate for Councillor in the City of Ottawa 2022 election, representing West Carleton-March Ward 5. Stephanie Maghnam has been an advocate for the rights of women and girls, encouraging women and girls involvement in politics. During her political campaigns, she has helped raise thousands of dollars towards women shelters, safe housing and numerous women’s causes throughout the city of Ottawa. Stephanie invited and encouraged young women to participate in civic leadership training during her nomination and election campaigns and served as a mentor to female candidates during the 2018 provincial election, providing advice and resources to Ontario Liberal Women candidates on the campaign trail.
Stephanie Maghnam has been a champion for Greenspace Preservation by helping to establish the Dunrobin Parkette during her time serving on the Executive of the Women’s Institute. She contributed to the successful installation of “Gale’s Garden” at the Ruddy Shenkman Hospice during her time serving on the executive of the Horticultural Society.
In 2020 she founded “Canadians For Lebanon – a not-for-profit advocating for family reunification after the devastating explosions in Beirut.
Stephanie Maghnam began her career as a television host/reporter and radio for local community stations in Edmonton after studying Journalism and Broadcasting. After moving to Ontario, Stephanie holds multiple career disciplines with expertise in the deliverance of Excellence in customer service, travel & tourism, and the transportation industry.
Stephanie has spent years working with families with children and young adults on the Autism Spectrum, she has advocated for mental health, affordable housing, consumer protection, food insecurity, seniors, rural affairs, and welcomed newcomers.
In appreciation for her contributions and commitment, Stephanie Maghnam has received numerous distinctions and awards. In 2024 Stephanie was recognized as an Honouree of Femmes remarquables Ottawa Distinguished Women in the category of Community Pillars. In 2017, was awarded and named Kanata North Citizen of The Year, by the City of Ottawa for her volunteer advocacy with seniors and gardens.

Stephanie Maghnam was recognized by the Member of Parliament Karen McCrimmon, House of Commons for her outstanding volunteer work and civic leadership across a number of community organizations. In 2017, Stephanie Maghnam was recognized by the French Public School Board, Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario for her tireless efforts volunteering with the school community. In 2017, Stephanie was featured in the book “If You Can See Her-You Can Be Her,” by Dr. Besty McGregor). and later featured in the book “Women On The Ballot”, by Dr. Besty McGregor (2019) In 2018, she was a Recipient of the Margaret Campbell Fund.
