Assistant to the NCWC President / Communications Administrator (AGM Secretary 2026 & 2027, Newsletter Creator & NCWC.Communications Email)

Shannon Kelly-Scharf

I am a mission-driven university student at Carleton University, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Criminology and Criminal Justice with a Concentration in Psychology. My academic and professional interests are rooted in understanding people, advocating for vulnerable populations, and contributing to research and initiatives that can create positive change in communities.

I have worked with non-profit organizations in administrative and communications roles and have volunteered with a variety of community initiatives, as serving my community has always been an ongoing goal of mine. Through these experiences, I have developed a strong appreciation for the importance of listening and amplifying the experiences of those whose voices are not always heard.

I first worked with the National Council of Women of Canada as an Administrative Assistant during the summer of 2025. The experience allowed me to contribute to an organization whose work aligns closely with my values, and I was pleased to return to NCWC and continue supporting its mission.

My experience includes, research, communications, social media and website management, graphic design, and confidential administrative support. In addition, as a Research Assistant with the Victimology Research Centre at Algonquin College in Ottawa, I had the opportunity to conduct research involving diverse vulnerable populations and contribute to writing research proposals and publications.
