91.2 Operational Funding for Women’s Groups

[Whereas:] Rationale: The information and services provided by women’s groups are vital for meeting the basic needs of women in Canada. Many women’s groups depend on operational funding from the government to continue their work. Without guaranteed core funding, it becomes challenging for these organizations to plan realistically and sustainably for the future.

[RESOLVED:]

  1. The National Council of Women of Canada (NCWC) urges the Government of Canada to establish criteria to evaluate the effectiveness and funding needs of equality-seeking women’s groups.
  2. Additionally, NCWC requests the Government to create a system for providing core funding through individual contracts, ensuring continued operational support for women’s groups, provided they meet specific obligations.
