Surviving Spouse’s Benefits Under the Canada Pension Plan

75.14B Surviving Spouse’s Benefits Under the Canada Pension Plan

Whereas, Marriage creates a partnership to which both husband and wife contribute equally, though differently; and,

  1. Protecting the pension rights of the surviving spouse, regardless of their future marital status; and,
  2. Providing that the surviving spouse’s benefits be not less than the amount the spouse would have received at the same age had he or she lived.
