The National Council of Women of Canada (NCWC) recognizes and celebrates Gloria Steinem for her extraordinary contributions to advancing women’s rights, equality, equity and inclusion.
For decades, Ms. Steinem has challenged discrimination, amplified women’s voices and encouraged generations to work toward a society in which every woman and girl can participate fully and equally. Her courage, perseverance and commitment have helped bring women’s experiences and concerns to the forefront of public discussion.

Ms. Steinem’s work also reminds us that the struggle for women’s equality is not over. Women and girls continue to face discrimination, violence, economic inequality and barriers to leadership and decision-making. Advancing gender equality requires sustained action that recognizes the diverse and intersecting experiences of women in Canada and around the world.
The NCWC remains committed to working with its members and partners to promote women’s human rights and build communities and institutions grounded in equality, equity, inclusion and respect.
