Noting the national councils are growing in number and in membership,
Recognising the increasing vitality of the International Council of Women,
Acknowledging that the world today is rapidly changing and recognising our need to respond quickly,
Concerned to increase the effectiveness of the ICW and its role at the global, regional and local levels,
The National Council of Finland calls upon the International Council of Women to undertake a review of its structure and working methods in order to implement a new, effective structure and constitution without delay,
And recommends:
1. An evaluation of its current ways of work, its identity and structure,
2. Developing a process which includes involving the members of national and regional councils in the discussions,
3. Drawing up a proposal for a new structure to provide for revised decision-making processes, including a revised constitution,
4. Redesigning and updating ICW's home pages to meet the information requirements of today and to bring recommendations for consideration at the next ICW Executive Committee Meeting.
