Asserting that the status of women depends on Equality, Development and Peace;
Regretfully admitting that most disturbing condition of violence and violations of human rights prevailing all over the world are having a traumatic affect on women and children;
Knowing that Governments may lack the political will and honesty to settle differences peacefully,
THE INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL OF WOMEN
Appeals to all people of goodwill throughout the world to strive for resolving differences through conferences, dialogue and negotiations and condemn the gross and blatant violations of human rights in situations of armed conflict in the world;
Calls upon NGO'S, educational institutions and international bodies to incorporate peace and education in their programmes to work for the implementation of the Beijing Plan of action through national plans of action, and resolve to eradicate violence, terrorism prejudice and sectarian and ethnic strife in every part of the world.
