76.7 No Fault Divorce

Whereas, The provisions of the Criminal Code of Canada, the Divorce Act and various provincial statutes providing for the maintenance and support of wives separated from their husbands have proven inadequate;

Whereas, There is a reluctance of a spouse to disclose incidents such as battering; and,

Whereas, The Law Reform Commission of Canada has proposed the revision of the Laws pertaining to divorce; therefore,

RESOLVED, That the National Council of Women of Canada recommend to the Government of Canada that the Divorce Act be revised to provide, under the administration of a Unified Family Court, for divorce without the proof of fault.
